Ashfield Springs is committed to responsible manufacturing and to minimising the environmental impact of our operations. We hold BS EN ISO 14001 environmental management certification, awarded in 2013 and maintained through ongoing review and improvement, as the framework for this commitment.

ISO 14001 Certified Environmental Management: What It Means
BS EN ISO 14001 is the internationally recognised standard for environmental management systems. Certification requires us not only to identify and manage the environmental impacts of our own operations, but to commit to a programme of continual improvement, to set measurable environmental objectives, and to review our progress at regular management review meetings.
Our environmental management system covers our manufacturing operations in Huthwaite, Nottinghamshire and addresses the key environmental aspects of spring manufacturing: energy use, waste generation, use of raw materials, and the management of surface treatment and finishing processes. We are committed to compliance with all relevant environmental legislation and to going beyond basic compliance where practicable.

Continual reduction in energy consumption across our manufacturing operations through process efficiency improvements and investment in modern CNC equipment with lower energy demand per unit of output
Responsible waste management: we seek to minimise waste at source, segregate waste streams for recycling where possible, and work with approved waste management contractors for disposal
Responsible use of raw materials: we hold direct accountability for the materials used in every spring we manufacture and ensure all of our suppliers are appropriately vetted
Responsible management of surface treatment and finishing processes, including zinc plating, delta coating and other protective coatings, in compliance with environmental regulations
Supplier engagement: we work with suppliers who share our commitment to responsible environmental practice
Staff training and awareness: every employee is informed of our environmental policy and their role in supporting it
